Te Papa
Candywhistle was contracted by the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa to design the Treaty 2U Touring Exhibition; a travelling exhibition housed in a purpose built mobile exhibition truck travelling to 35 centres around New Zealand. interpreting the underlying themes and messages we then had to squeeze the exhibition into a spatial system that would fulfil the strict constraints of a folding exhibition truck. traditional New Zealand craft methodologies were used to generate a structural framework that stretched throughout the space as both interactive and informational surfaces. This formal language carried into the design of the pneumatic tent entrance and breakout space for the exhibition. constructed from a translucent fabric the tent allows light to penetrate into the space and removable windows allow air to flow through the tent in hot weather. An internal water filled cavity runs along the tent's base allowing the tent to be erected by two people in around ten minutes.
